Laura & Jason’s Wedding

April is here and love is definitely in the air. I had the opportunity to be a part of Laura & Jason’s Wedding day. It is always refreshing to see two couples that love and care about each other so much that you can’t help but to smile every-time your’re around them. They are the perfect example that it doesn’t matter where you come from or what nationality you are, Love is Love and Love sees no boundaries. Come and take a small look into their BIG day!

Scrappers Softball Leauge

SOFTBALL AMERICA’S FAVORITE PASTIME!?

Many say Baseball is in every way perfect; there are no flaws in the sport, and Softball is no different. Everything flows together perfectly.  It is built around man’s (more so a woman’s) favorite shape, a diamond, and the rest is covered by the planets on hair….Grass.

Recently I had went to visit some of my childhood friends at Randell’s Island in NY for a game of Softball. And the sportsman ship & team work that they pulled together shows why they are still undefeated. Here are just a few images from that day!

Eliza’s Maternity

I had the pleasure of doing a photoshoot for not only someone who I grew up with,  but someone that I consider family. He and his awesome girlfriend are having there first child together. When I heard the news I couldn’t believe it. But when I saw weeks past by I knew it was real. I couldn’t be happier for the both of them. I’ve seen them together and saw how much they care for each other and how they help and support one another as well. I have no doubt in my mind the little baby Kyler Presley Santana will be in good hands. He’s going to be surrounded by parents that Love him and a group of family and friends that will Love him just the same.  Here are a few photos from that Eli’s Maternity!!!

DIY Kino Flo Lights on a Budget

Now a days everyone wants to create the Peter Hurley Kino Flo light setup. And while the setup is amazing the cost is pretty high. Especially if your business hasn’t started to boom or you just don’t want to fork up that kind of cash. But, that doesn’t mean that you can’t create your own Kino Flo like setup at home. I did it, and it didn’t cost me $2,000. I went to my local Home Depot and got me 4x 4FtT8 Fluorescent light bulbs for  $18.00. 2x 4Ft bank light fixers for $19.00 each. I already had some extra 3/4 PVC pipe and a few 8-32 screws and bolts. The set up is really easy. Just make your measurements and make sure you’re not drilling any holes through any important wires on the light fixers. It took me about 15mins to drill and screw both light fixers. And about a total of $60 total to buy the lights and fixers. Let me tell you they give off some really nice even light. I’m actually planning on making a few more and have a all rounded Light setup. Even though I have a few Alien Bees B800 and a few more strobes, I like the even look that these lights give off and I can see as to why Peter Hurley does too.

Retouching

Here are two images that I had since 2011 and I really wanted to brush up on my retouching skills.

I forgot how much work, hours go into retouching. But there’s a since of accomplishment that you get once you have finished everything on your own. I still have a long way to go but I know i’m heading in the right direction.

What’s in My BAG

What’s in my bag?

The most asked question on forums by new comers is “What gear are you using” I personally believe it doesn’t matter what gear you have as long as you 1. Understand light and how it works 2. You’re creative and have a passion for it. The camera doesn’t make you a good photographer, its what you capture that makes you a great photographer. Even though I said the camera you have doesn’t matter, it sure as hell helps.

I’m using a Full Frame FX Nikon D700. And I can only speak for myself when I say that coming from using a D90 & D7000 DX Camera’s, once I made the switch to Full Frame I’ll never go back to shooting DX.

Now here is what I use for my photography:

As you may have seen I mainly have PRIME Lenes. The reason for that is that they allow me to shoot at a higher aperture of f/1.2 – f/2.8! It simply allows you to use a lot more light. Here are a few example of a shoot I did with my 85mm at f/1.4 with my ND Filter attached & Alien Bee with a grid.

Like I said before the camera doesn’t defy you. You are your own camera, what you in vision is what you put out for the world to see and enjoy. I hope this helps anyone that carries the same passion that I have. Grab a camera and shoot!

Baby Doll

Its always refreshing when someone you care about wants to add and get involved in whatever it is that you’re passionate about. My girlfriend came up with the idea to do a doll face shoot. I was more than happy to do the idea she had in mind. It not only helps her with her makeup skills but it also helps her open up to new and creative ideas. I’m very proud of the work she has done. Here are a few pictures from that day. Enjoy!
