April is here and love is definitely in the air. I had the opportunity to be a part of Laura & Jason’s Wedding day. It is always refreshing to see two couples that love and care about each other so much that you can’t help but to smile every-time your’re around them. They are the perfect example that it doesn’t matter where you come from or what nationality you are, Love is Love and Love sees no boundaries. Come and take a small look into their BIG day!
I had the pleasure of doing a photoshoot for not only someone who I grew up with, but someone that I consider family. He and his awesome girlfriend are having there first child together. When I heard the news I couldn’t believe it. But when I saw weeks past by I knew it was real. I couldn’t be happier for the both of them. I’ve seen them together and saw how much they care for each other and how they help and support one another as well. I have no doubt in my mind the little baby Kyler Presley Santana will be in good hands. He’s going to be surrounded by parents that Love him and a group of family and friends that will Love him just the same. Here are a few photos from that Eli’s Maternity!!!
What’s in my bag?
The most asked question on forums by new comers is “What gear are you using” I personally believe it doesn’t matter what gear you have as long as you 1. Understand light and how it works 2. You’re creative and have a passion for it. The camera doesn’t make you a good photographer, its what you capture that makes you a great photographer. Even though I said the camera you have doesn’t matter, it sure as hell helps.
I’m using a Full Frame FX Nikon D700. And I can only speak for myself when I say that coming from using a D90 & D7000 DX Camera’s, once I made the switch to Full Frame I’ll never go back to shooting DX.
Now here is what I use for my photography:
- Nikon D700
- Nikkor 24mm f/2.8
- Sigma 50mm f/1.4
- Nikkor 60mm Macro f/2.8
- Nikkor 85mm f/1.4
- Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8
- Pocketwizard Plus ll
- 2x Alien Bee B800
- Adorama Flash Point Monolight
- Genus 77mm ND Filter
As you may have seen I mainly have PRIME Lenes. The reason for that is that they allow me to shoot at a higher aperture of f/1.2 – f/2.8! It simply allows you to use a lot more light. Here are a few example of a shoot I did with my 85mm at f/1.4 with my ND Filter attached & Alien Bee with a grid.
Like I said before the camera doesn’t defy you. You are your own camera, what you in vision is what you put out for the world to see and enjoy. I hope this helps anyone that carries the same passion that I have. Grab a camera and shoot!
One thing I LOVE about the sun is that it simply gives you incredible light. Especially at the Golden Hour. I went down to Cliffwood Beach near Keyport NJ with Tiffany and shot some really nice photos of her. Tiffany also seemed to be enjoying the sun while she was shooting with a Canon AE-1 which belonged to my pops back in the days. Shooting Film is an art of its own. We take advantage of digital and having the luxury of seeing what it was that we shoot in a matter of seconds. Film doesn’t allow you to do that and it makes every shoot that much more important. Here are a few pics of our afternoon.
Its always refreshing when someone you care about wants to add and get involved in whatever it is that you’re passionate about. My girlfriend came up with the idea to do a doll face shoot. I was more than happy to do the idea she had in mind. It not only helps her with her makeup skills but it also helps her open up to new and creative ideas. I’m very proud of the work she has done. Here are a few pictures from that day. Enjoy!
A few days ago I started using a new lighting setup in which, I really like the results. Its quick simple and straight to the point. I used a Alien Bee B800 with a boom, beauty dish a second Alien Bee B800 with a Softbox and a reflector on the opposite end. I couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Please feel free to let me know what you think.
